Fiona specialises in estate administration and local and international probate work, which includes obtaining Jersey Grants of Probate for non-domiciliaries from around the world. She also assists with the registration of Court of Protection Orders and Powers of Attorney with the Jersey Courts for non-domiciliaries with Jersey assets and the administration of curatorships and tutelles.

Background and experience

Fiona has considerable expertise and interest in the drafting of wills for local residents, as well as the administration of estates for both local and worldwide internationally domiciled deceased individuals. Her extensive experience ensures that the wishes of the deceased are accurately reflected and that the process of estate distribution is handled efficiently and sensitively.

She also possesses a wealth of knowledge concerning the registration of foreign Powers of Attorney, enabling them to be recognised under Jersey Law. This expertise is crucial in ensuring that the legal authority granted in other jurisdictions is upheld within Jersey. In addition, Fiona is adept at drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney for Jersey residents, providing peace of mind that their affairs will be managed according to their wishes should they lose capacity.

For clients who have lost capacity, Fiona is experienced in managing their financial affairs with the utmost care and diligence. She also manages the financial affairs of clients who have appointed Ogier as their attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney. Furthermore, she is skilled managing the financial affairs for minor beneficiaries of an estate, where a Tuteur has been put in place, until they reach the age of majority, which is 18. This role involves a high level of responsibility and trust, ensuring that the minors' financial interests are safeguarded.

Fiona joined Ogier in 2005, bringing with her a background in fiduciary services and accountancy. She is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Her qualifications and experience make her a highly valued member of the Local Legal Services department in Jersey, where she continues to provide exceptional service to her clients.
